Maintenance Musts
Follow these tips to keep your Carver Fins working and looking great



Carver Fins are quick, lightweight, and fun to use. We’re proud to use ecologically safe materials, but it comes with a responsibility to maintain your fins. Carver Fins are high performance equipment that needs a little TLC (at least once a year) to keep in great shape.
Make sure every year you reseal your fin tips once a year and to replace your waxed stitching thread. It’s absolutely critical to backstitch when re-attaching your foot pocket to the fin tip, check out our maintenance videos for a step-by-step guide.
If your fin tips are usable but look a little worse for wear, you can always sand them down and reseal. If you choose to sand down your fin tips, we recommend sealing with our 100% pure tung oil at least twice. Please follow our resealing instructions for best results. No shortcuts were made to get you these fins, and no shortcuts can be maintain your fins.
We understand we’re asking more of you than other fin makers, and if you’re not interested in maintaining your Carver Fins we totally get it. We do ask that you purchase a different company’s fins if maintenance isn’t something you are interested in doing.
Authors Note: I’ve come to love maintaining my fins. I feel like I’m earning my time using them and I really do take pride in having fins that look and feel great.
